A Golden Opportunity

In 2018 Martinez Geospatial (MTZ) provided high-definition survey grade laser scanning (HDS), aerial photogrammetry, and aerial LiDAR services together to provide a complete topographic survey for the upcoming Metro Transit Gold Line – Bus Rapid Transit in St. Paul, MN. The project included utilizing HDS in the downtown area of St. Paul, and aerial photogrammetry and aerial LiDAR going East from Union Depot out to Woodbury along the project corridor.

Our HDS field crews were traversing through downtown scanning from sidewalks on each side of the road. Though the city is a bustling place during the day, the density of our scan locations captured seamless coverage of the project area, this enabled our compilers to capture the survey-grade quality of information MTZ is best known for.

Aerial mapping, completed with traditional photogrammetry methods, provided design-level topographic information for Metro Transit and the contracted engineers to design the highest-quality future transit stops.

As the St. Paul, and Minneapolis, metro area continues to expand, so must the public transit system to accommodate its growth. MTZ was proud to provide our industry-leading existing conditions capturing services on this project, we definitely look forward to utilizing the future infrastructure!
